Excavating the City’s lost history
Adriana Camarena joins Shaping San Francisco in collecting tales of borders, line-crossings, and overlapping identities to provide a layered picture of this working class immigrant neighborhood in California. Over the course of the year, a literary project will emerge from Mission District residents in three thematic areas, through conversation and research. Video elements will complement writings with visual content.
The path of this historical inquiry will be traced on this website, and punctuated by six public readings which will showcase works in progress to Mission District residents and other curious city dwellers. Shaping San Francisco received a 2013 CalHum Community Stories grant to support the development of this work.
